34 Detained in Aftermath of Istanbul Courthouse Shooting, Gunmen Eliminated

The DHKP-C group has been responsible for numerous terror attacks in Turkey. On Tuesday, two members of this group attacked a police checkpoint in Istanbul in front of a courthouse. A civilian was killed, and six others were wounded. The police killed the two shooters, and 34 people have been detained in connection with the incident. The DHKP-C is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, European Union, and Turkey and has been involved in attacks and suicide bombings in Turkey since 1990. President Tayyip Erdogan described the incident as an attempted terror attack, and the Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed this statement. Last month, Islamic State gunmen killed one person at a church in Istanbul, and authorities have captured several suspects linked to the group or the attack.
