A Lebanese man caught sneaking over the US-Mexico border claimed to be a Hezbollah member planning a terrorist attack, as reported by the New York Post.
The New York Post referenced a Border Patrol document they allegedly obtained exclusively. US Customs and Border Protection had not confirmed the report by Sunday evening.
The man, Basel Bassel Ebbadi, was apprehended in early March near El Paso, Texas. He reportedly told Border Patrol he was “going to try to make a bomb.”
Ebbadi claimed he had trained with Hezbollah for seven years and guarded weapons locations for the group for several years.
‘Once you’re in, you can never get out’
Ebbadi later stated he was trying to leave Lebanon because he didn’t want to harm people and mentioned “once you’re in, you can never get out.”
He expressed a desire to go to New York and travel across the country. Ebbadi was isolated and referred to the Tactical Terrorism Response Team (TTRT) for making terroristic threats to personnel.
