The USS Thomas Hudner intercepted multiple attack drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia over the Red Sea on Thursday. There were no reports of any damage or injuries. The incident occurred just hours after the Israeli Air Force intercepted a cruise missile fired by the Houthis near Eilat. This is the second time in a matter of days that the USS Thomas Hudner has shot down Houthi drones. Last week, the warship shot down a drone in the Red Sea that was aimed at Israel. The Houthi leader has stated that their forces will continue to target Israel, including Israeli ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Additionally, the Houthis shot down a US military MQ-9 drone while it was in international airspace. Since 2015, the Houthis have been engaged in a war against a Saudi-led coalition and have become a major military force in the Arabian Peninsula.
