Houthis claim to have attacked a “British merchant vessel” in the Red Sea

Yemen’s Houthis targeted a British merchant vessel in the Red Sea in protest of Israel’s Gaza bombardment. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported an explosion near a vessel off Yemen’s Hodeidah, but the crew was safe. The Houthi military spokesperson vowed to continue the attacks until the aggression stops and the Gaza siege is lifted. The conflict has spread to other parts of the Middle East, with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Iraqi-armed groups also getting involved.
