IAEA Chief: No Cooperation from Iran – Is Patience Running Out?

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency expressed concerns regarding Iran’s lack of cooperation, stating that the agency is being held “hostage” amidst Iran’s disputes with Western nations. He emphasized the need for visibility commensurate with Iran’s ambitious nuclear goals, pointing out that Iran has enough nuclear material for several warheads. The accumulation of uranium by Iran has raised concerns, as the material is being stored rather than used for civilian purposes. The lack of transparency and clarification from Iran has frustrated the agency, particularly in light of Iran’s increased uranium production. The United States has also expressed deep concern over Iran’s actions, particularly given recent conflicts in the Middle East.
