The Iraq Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Iran’s “aggression” on Erbil, leading to civilian casualties in residential areas. The government stated that legal measures will be taken against these actions, which violate Iraq’s sovereignty and the security of its people, including filing a complaint at the United Nations Security Council. Additionally, Iraq summoned the Iranian chargé d’affaires in Baghdad to protest the attacks on Erbil. France also accused Iran of violating Iraq’s sovereignty after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed to have struck an Israeli “spy headquarters” in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, calling it a “blatant, unacceptable and worrying” violation. France’s Foreign Ministry emphasized the need for these actions to stop to avoid escalating regional tensions.
