Israel’s former IDF general warns of Egypt’s potential as an unstoppable enemy

The progress of the hostilities in the Gaza Strip and Hamas’s weakening were discussed by host Arel Segal of the 103FM program and retired Major-General Yitzhak Barik. Segal mentioned unconfirmed reports about the Mossad chief formulating an Israeli response to the mediators’ proposals and the lack of a clear strategy in light of Hamas’s response. Barik acknowledged Hamas’s strength and said that they have time to continue existing due to their unwillingness to reach an agreement on the hostages. However, he recognized the IDF’s reluctance to sit along the Philadelphi Corridor and hoped Egypt would take over the custodianship. Despite Egypt’s refusal, he praised Egypt’s military strength and expressed concern about their potential as an enemy state if peace was canceled.
