Smotrich accused the Palestinian Authority of supporting a Hamas attack and has only agreed to a partial transfer of funds. Palestinian officials stress the crucial need for the funds to be released in full, while tension within the Israeli government has also arisen over the issue. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called for immediate disbursement of the funds to maintain stability in the volatile West Bank.
