Suspected Israeli Airstrike in Damascus Neighborhood Leaves Three Dead

Reports from Syria claimed that an Israeli airstrike in the Kafr Sousa neighborhood of Damascus resulted in at least three deaths on Wednesday morning. The area is home to residential buildings, schools, and cultural centers, and is located near a heavily guarded complex used by security agencies. This is not the first time the neighborhood has been targeted, as an Israeli attack in February 2023 resulted in the deaths of Iranian military experts.

Sky News Arabic reported that the alleged targets of the attack were Iranians. Footage from the scene showed an apartment building hit in the strike and a plume of smoke rising from the area. Witnesses heard multiple explosions and ambulances rushed to the area to assist. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

Iran has been a significant supporter of President Bashar al-Assad during Syria’s ongoing conflict, leading to regular Israeli airstrikes to counter Tehran’s military influence. Additionally, it was reported that Lebanon was experiencing a significant wave of attacks in the country’s south at the same time.
