Yemen’s Houthis attack container vessel in Gulf of Aden without causing injuries

Yemen’s Houthis fired an anti-ship ballistic missile at the container vessel M/V MSC SKY II in the Gulf of Aden, causing damage, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). Initial reports indicated no injuries, and the vessel continued on its way without requesting assistance.

The Iran-aligned Houthis confirmed targeting the vessel with naval missiles in support of Palestinians in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The US military responded to Houthi attacks by conducting self-defense strikes against anti-ship cruise missiles in the region.

Both the US and Britain have taken action against Houthi targets in Yemen, with concerns rising over the impact of Red Sea attacks on global shipping and the potential for further destabilization in the Middle East.
