Turkish Plan to Evacuate Injured and Ill Gazan Children on Friday

Turkey is evacuating wounded Gazan children and youth on Friday as part of its third evacuation round, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said.

Turkey has brought 150 people, mostly cancer patients, from Gaza for treatment. It has also evacuated over 100 Turks and Turkish Cypriots this week.

Koca said three sick Gazan children had been brought to Turkey on Thursday and added that they would receive treatment.

The third round of evacuations, consisting of 50 people, has been delayed but the issues have largely been resolved, and officials are working to complete the preparations.

“We expect the third evacuation to be tomorrow (Friday), and it will largely consist of children and young people,” Koca told reporters.

Ankara has sent 800 metric tons of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, medicine, and medical personnel to Egypt for Gazans. It has said it wants to set up a field hospital on the Gaza side of the Rafah border crossing.

On Thursday, Koca said a coordination mechanism was working to identify a suitable location for the field hospital, adding, “We want to take action as soon as possible.”
